Evaluation of biologically active secondary metabolites isolated from the toothache plant Acmella ciliata (Asteraceae)

Summary: This study quantified spilanthol, phenolics, flavonoids and antioxidant activity in extracts from different parts of A. ciliata. Results showed that flower extract had the highest spilanthol content, while leaf extract had the highest flavonoid content and strongest antioxidant activity. The study also found a positive correlation between antioxidant activity and phenolic/flavonoid content.
