Characterisation of seed dormancy of 12 Chilean species of Nolana (Solanaceae) from the coastal Atacama Desert

Josefina Hepp et al.

Summary: The study on 12 species of Nolana plants revealed that they do not exhibit physical dormancy but rather physiological dormancy. Differences in dormancy levels were observed among the species, with the endosperm playing a key role in preventing germination. The proximity in terms of clades was found to be more relevant than the latitudinal distribution for the level of physiological dormancy in the studied species.
