Generation of new salt-tolerant wheat lines and transcriptomic exploration of the responsive genes to ethylene and salt stress

Qian Ma et al.

Summary: The study successfully developed salt-tolerant wheat mutants with increased grain production through mutagenesis, identifying 11 salt-tolerant lines showing ethylene insensitivity and high yield. Transcriptome analysis revealed differentially expressed genes and identified new ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTORs related to ethylene response and salt tolerance. The findings suggest a close relationship between ethylene sensitivity and salt tolerance in wheat.

Comparative Transcriptome Analysis of Two Contrasting Chinese Cabbage (Brassica rapa L.) Genotypes Reveals That Ion Homeostasis Is a Crucial Biological Pathway Involved in the Rapid Adaptive Response to Salt Stress

Na Li et al.

Summary: Salt is a critical factor affecting plant yield and quality. This study found that 100 mmol L-1 NaCl was the most suitable treatment concentration for Chinese cabbage cultivars, and identified fresh weight and electrolyte leakage in leaves as convenient indicators for salt tolerance. Physiological responses and transcriptome dynamics analyses showed that salt-tolerant Qinghua45 could maintain ion homeostasis and photosynthesis under salt stress, with fewer differentially expressed genes compared to salt-sensitive Biyuchunhua. Genes such as VDAC, Cation/H (+) antiporter 17, and V-H + -ATPase were identified to play roles in salt tolerance mechanisms.

Effects of ozone water irrigation and spraying on physiological characteristics and gene expression of tomato seedlings

Jin-Peng Xu et al.

Summary: The research results suggest that ozone water treatment significantly improves the stress tolerance of tomato seedlings by enhancing antioxidant enzyme activity, reducing malondialdehyde content, and increasing SPAD value and nitrogen content in leaves. The optimal concentrations for irrigation and spraying were 3.0 mg/L and 0.6 mg/L, respectively.
