Multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae: mechanisms of resistance including updated data for novel β-lactam-β-lactamase inhibitor combinations

Irene Galani et al.

Summary: Multi-drug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae is a major concern in bacterial resistance, with reports of strains developing resistance to Ceftazidime-Avibactam during treatment. Understanding the mechanisms of resistance can help improve the efficacy of current antimicrobials and guide the design of novel therapeutic agents that can overcome resistance mechanisms.

In Vitro Activity of a Novel Siderophore-Cephalosporin LCB10-0200 (GT-1), and LCB10-0200/Avibactam, against Carbapenem-Resistant Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa Strains at a Tertiary Hospital in Korea

Le Phuong Nguyen et al.

Summary: The siderophore-antibiotic conjugate LCB10-0200, in combination with AVI, shows promising activity against carbapenem-resistant E. coli and K. pneumoniae. However, its effectiveness is limited in A. baumannii and P. aeruginosa. The addition of AVI significantly enhances the activity of LCB10-0200 against carbapenem-resistant strains, but not in all cases.
