microRNA-26a-5p Prevents Retinal Neuronal Cell Death in Diabetic Mice by Targeting PTEN

Rui Shi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that miR-26a plays a protective role in early diabetic retinal neuronal cell death by delaying neuroretinal thinning and loss of ganglion cells through down-regulation of PTEN. Additionally, miR-26a was found to inhibit the expression of inflammatory factors in the diabetic retina.

MicroLet-7b Regulates Neutrophil Function and Dampens Neutrophilic Inflammation by Suppressing the Canonical TLR4/NF-κB Pathway

Binzhen Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, the regulatory pathway of miR-let-7b/TLR4/NF-kappa B in neutrophils was investigated. Overexpression of miR-let-7b down-regulated TLR4 expression and decreased proinflammatory factors while increasing anti-inflammatory factor in vitro. Treatment with miR-let-7b agomir in septic mice improved survival, reduced organ injuries, and inhibited neutrophil recruitment.

Pulmonary AngII promotes LPS-induced lung inflammation by regulating microRNA-143

Shenglan Wang et al.

Summary: The study concluded that AngII enhances inflammation induced by LPS in BEAS-2B cells by regulating miR-143-3p, affecting the expression and activity of ACE2, leading to cell apoptosis and release of inflammatory cytokines.

Linc-KIAA1737-2 promoted LPS-induced HK-2 cell apoptosis by regulating miR-27a-3p/TLR4/NF-κB axis

Ming Hu et al.

Summary: In this study, upregulation of Linc-KIAA1737-2 was found to promote LPS-induced apoptosis in HK-2 cells, while transfection with miR-27a-3p mimic could attenuate LPS-induced cell apoptosis. These findings suggest a potential role for Linc-KIAA1737-2 in sepsis-induced acute kidney injury through the regulation of the miR-27a-3p/TLR4/NF-kappa B axis.

Skin Wound Healing: Normal Macrophage Function and Macrophage Dysfunction in Diabetic Wounds

Savannah M. Aitcheson et al.

Summary: Macrophages play a crucial role in wound healing, but in individuals with diabetes, these cells are dysfunctional, hindering the healing process and potentially leading to the formation of diabetic foot ulcers. Understanding macrophage dysregulation in DFUs and developing better therapies can improve healing rates in these patients.

Upregulating miR-27a-3p inhibits cell proliferation and inflammation of rheumatoid arthritis synovial fibroblasts through targeting toll-like receptor 5

Lifeng Chen et al.

Summary: This study revealed that miR-27a-3p was downregulated while TLR5 was upregulated in RASFs from RA patients, and targeting TLR5 through upregulating miR-27a-3p could effectively suppress RASFs proliferation and inflammation, potentially contributing to the suppression of RA progression.

miRNAs and Genes Involved in the Interplay between Ocular Hypertension and Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma. Oxidative Stress, Inflammation, and Apoptosis Networks

Jorge Raga-Cervera et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated for the first time the differential expression profiling of eight miRNAs in tears from OHT versus POAG groups, suggesting miRNAs and their target genes/signaling pathways as candidates for better understanding the molecular-genetic bases of glaucoma. Further research is needed to validate these miRNAs as potential biomarkers for the diagnosis, prognosis, and prevention of glaucoma.

miR-30e-5p Alleviates Inflammation and Cardiac Dysfunction After Myocardial Infarction Through Targeting PTEN

Yongli Chen et al.

Summary: Accumulating evidence suggests that miR-30e-5p is downregulated in animal models and hypoxic H9c2 cells, and its overexpression can enhance cell viability, reduce inflammatory factors, and alleviate myocardial injury induced by myocardial infarction by suppressing PTEN.
