Effect of Sunshine Duration on Myopia in Primary School Students from Northern and Southern China

Lin Leng et al.

Summary: The study revealed regional differences in myopia prevalence among primary school students in northern and southern China, with shorter light exposure, higher education level, and female gender associated with higher myopia prevalence in southern cities. Longer average cumulative daylight hours were found to be connected to lower myopia prevalence in primary school students, emphasizing the protective role of daylight exposure against myopia development.

A Quantitative Comparison of Multispectral Refraction Topography and Autorefractometer in Young Adults

Yunru Liao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates high agreement in measuring central refraction between autorefractometry, experienced optometrist, and MRT. MRT may provide a potential objective method to assess peripheral refraction.

Meridional Anisotropy of Foveal and Peripheral Resolution Acuity in Adults With Emmetropia, Myopia, and Astigmatism

Tsz-Wing Leung et al.

Summary: This study found that myopic astigmats have better resolution acuity for vertical gratings at central visual field and for tangential orientations at peripheral visual fields. However, simple myopes and emmetropes showed better resolution acuity for the radial orientation in peripheral visual fields.

Open versus closed view autorefraction in young adults

Manbir Nagra et al.

Summary: This study compared the concordance in non-cycloplegic refractive error between two modern autorefractors in young adults. The differences between the two instruments were small but statistically significant. While the Topcon TRK-2P may serve as a useful starting point for subjective refraction, further work is needed to minimize differences between the instruments.
