Value of Plasma Methylated SFRP2 in Prognosis of Gastric Cancer

Haijiao Yan et al.

Summary: Methylation of SFRP2 in ctDNA is correlated with clinical outcomes in GC patients, with higher levels associated with poorer prognosis. Dynamic changes in SFRP2 methylation post-treatment are also predictive of survival in advanced GC patients, providing a potential biomarker for prognosis prediction and monitoring.

Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Methylation status and long-fragment cell-free DNA are prognostic biomarkers for gastric cancer

Kazuhide Ko et al.

Summary: This study found that low methylation levels of cfDNA before surgery and high concentrations of long-fragment cfDNA after surgery are both associated with poor prognosis and increased risk of recurrence in gastric cancer patients.

TP53 mutation and MET amplification in circulating tumor DNA analysis predict disease progression in patients with advanced gastric cancer

Jia Li et al.

Summary: Gastric cancer is a heterogeneous disease with various molecular subtypes. This study found that TP53 mutation and MET amplification in ctDNA are common in AGC patients and could predict disease progression.

Molecular characterization of ctDNA from Chinese patients with advanced gastric adenocarcinoma reveals actionable alterations for targeted and immune therapy

Meng Zhang et al.

Summary: This study of 200 Chinese patients with advanced gastric adenocarcinoma revealed that the majority carried genomic alterations, with common mutations in genes like TP53, LRP1B, MYC, ERBB2, and KRAS. Patients with high bTMB and bMSI-H had a higher percentage of del-alterations in the DDR pathway. Over 45% of cases had potentially actionable alterations, showing promise for ctDNA NGS in informing clinical decisions for advanced gastric adenocarcinoma.

Comparison of CellSearch and Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC)-Biopsy Systems in Detecting Peripheral Blood Circulating Tumor Cells in Patients with Gastric Cancer

Dawei Ning et al.

Summary: This study found that the CTC-Biopsy system was more effective in detecting CTCs in gastric cancer patients compared to the CellSearch system, and CTMs could be detected by the CTC-Biopsy system. CTCs detected by the CellSearch system were associated with different clinicopathological factors and long-term survival outcomes.
