A case of Leclercia adecarboxylata endocarditis in a 62-year-old man

Kashif Malik et al.

Summary: Leclercia adecarboxylata, a motile gram negative bacillus in the Enterobacteriaceae family, is rarely isolated as a cause of disease. It is often found in immunocompromised patients and generally susceptible to antibiotics, though multiantibiotic resistant strains have been reported.

Leclercia adecarboxylata Bacteremia without a Focus in a Non-Immunosuppressed Patient

Talal Shaikhain et al.

Summary: This case describes a non-immunosuppressed 74-year-old woman with multiple comorbidities who developed L. adecarboxylata bacteremia associated with acute decompensated heart failure and pneumonia. Treatment with meropenem successfully controlled the infection, but she subsequently developed severe Clostridium difficile infection and died despite treatment attempts. This highlights the importance of understanding the pathogenesis, risk factors, and resistance patterns of L. adecarboxylata in immunocompetent individuals.

Leclercia adecarboxylata urinary tract infection in a patient with bladder cancer and recurrent hematuria

Jonathan Li et al.

Summary: L. adecarboxylata is a rare human pathogen that is rarely isolated from the urinary tract, mostly affecting immunocompromised individuals. This case describes the isolation of a pan-sensitive L. adecarboxylata from a polymicrobial urinary tract infection in an immunocompetent older adult recently diagnosed with bladder cancer.
