Contingent Tunes of Neurochemical Ensembles in the Norm and Pathology: Can We See the Patterns?

Irina Trofimova

Summary: This review discusses the benefits of using a functional constructivism approach in analyzing neurochemical biomarkers underlying temperament and psychopathology. It identifies eight systems and describes seven neurochemical ensembles, highlighting their roles in action construction and introducing formal symbols for future analysis. The possibility of constructivism-based unifying taxonomies of temperament and classifications of psychiatric disorders is demonstrated.

Estimating the Associations between Big Five Personality Traits, Testosterone, and Cortisol

Zachary W. Sundin et al.

Summary: The study found weak and non-significant associations between testosterone or cortisol and Big Five personality traits. The few significant effects were very small in magnitude. Hormone-personality associations were mostly similar regardless of gender, contraceptive use, or the interaction between testosterone and cortisol.
