Toluene steam reforming using nickel based catalysts made from mining residues

Salma Belbessai et al.

Summary: Two nickel-based catalysts, Ni-Olivine and Ni-UGSO, were investigated for their activity and stability in toluene steam reforming, with Ni-UGSO showing higher catalytic activity and resistance to carbon formation compared to Ni-Olivine. Characterization results indicated strong metal-support interaction in Ni-UGSO due to the formation of a NiO/MgO solid solution, while Ni-Olivine exhibited weak metal-support interaction leading to filamentous carbon formation on the catalyst's surface.

Chenyu Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility of inhibiting char and tar formation during supercritical water gasification of sewage sludge by additive addition. The results showed that different additives had varying effects on the formation of char and tar, with NaOH being the most effective inhibitor. Additionally, the addition of additives also had an impact on the hydrogen yield and gasification efficiency.

Thermodynamic comparison of solar methane reforming via catalytic and redox cycle routes

B. Bulfin et al.

Summary: This article discusses the large-scale thermochemical methane reforming to syngas technology and compares two reforming routes utilizing solar energy and conventional fuel as heat sources, namely redox reforming and catalytic reforming. The analysis highlights that the redox cycle approach could produce a higher quality syngas, but at the expense of additional thermodynamic constraints, which are sensitive to carbon formation, and also lead to a greater energy demand relative to catalytic reforming.
