Exploring the Potential of Meyerozyma guilliermondii on Physiological Performances and Defense Response against Fusarium Crown Rot on Durum Wheat

Zayneb Kthiri et al.

Summary: Coating seeds with Meyerozyma guilliermondii has shown to promote plant growth and increase photosynthesis traits, while reducing disease incidence and severity caused by Fusarium culmorum. This bio-control agent also helps in mitigating the negative impact of the disease on photosynthesis and plant growth.

N uptake, assimilation and isotopic fractioning control δ 15N dynamics in plant DNA: A heavy labelling experiment on Brassica napus L.

Alessandro Foscari et al.

Summary: This study conducted a manipulative experiment on Brassica napus var. oleracea to monitor the dynamics of δN-15 in purified DNA, source leaf, and root materials over a 60-day growth period. The results showed that the δN-15 dynamics of leaves and roots depend on the labeled chemical species, with some unexpected findings regarding isotopic fractionation and N-15 depletion in plant DNA. While the study did not assess the fractionation coefficient (epsilon) associated with DNA bases biosynthesis, it provides valuable insights into the dynamics of specific plant molecular pools over a long observation period using heavy labelling techniques.

Biological Control of Celery Powdery Mildew Disease Caused by Erysiphe heraclei DC In Vitro and In Vivo Conditions

Hamada F. A. Ahmed et al.

Summary: The study found that Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus megaterium showed high biocontrol efficacy against celery powdery mildew, while difenoconazole also performed well in suppressing disease severity. Additionally, the applied biocontrol agents significantly improved growth and yield characteristics of celery plants in the experiment.
