Mori ramulus and its Major Component Morusin Inhibit Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 Replication and the Virus-Induced Reactive Oxygen Species

Tae In Kim et al.

Summary: The study found that Mori ramulus extract significantly reduced HSV-1 replication and inhibited viral protein expression in Vero cells. The active antiviral component morusin in Mori ramulus was identified to inhibit HSV-1-induced ROS production and viral replication. Therefore, Mori ramulus or morusin may have potential for development as anti-HSV-1 agents.
