Hydrogen storage in MgAlTiFeNi high entropy alloy

Katia R. Cardoso et al.

Summary: In this study, the MgAlTiFeNi high entropy alloy was processed by high-energy ball milling under different atmospheres. The alloy showed different structures and hydrogen storage behaviors depending on the milling atmosphere. The RM-MgAlTiFeNi alloy exhibited good hydrogen storage capacity, fast absorption rate, and lower desorption temperature, while the MA-MgAlTiFeNi samples had lower electrochemical storage capacity due to the instability in alkaline solution.

Combinations of V2C and Ti3C2 MXenes for Boosting the Hydrogen Storage Performances of MgH2

Haizhen Liu et al.

Summary: The combination of V2C and Ti3C2 in MgH2 significantly improves hydrogen storage performance, enhancing hydrogen desorption rate and cycling stability. V2C and Ti3C2 promote the hydrogen-releasing process of MgH2 and may facilitate the transfer of hydrogen atoms or molecules through grain boundaries and interfaces. This study provides new insights into the hydrogen storage behaviors and mechanisms of MgH2 catalyzed by MXenes.

Low-temperature hydrogenation of Mg-Ni-Nb2O5 alloy processed by high-pressure torsion

M. Osorio-Garcia et al.

Summary: Bulk materials of the Mg-Ni-Nb2O5 alloy with ultrafine grain structure produced by high-pressure torsion (HPT) processing exhibit faster hydrogenation kinetics and higher storage capacities compared to initial mild-milled powder mixtures. However, the storage capacities are limited by the formation of MgO after several hydrogenation cycles. Despite this limitation, the material can be handled and stored without special precautions and maintains its fast activation in posterior hydrogenation treatments for several months.

Room Temperature Hydrogen Absorption of Mg/MgH2 Catalyzed by BaTiO3

Joshua Adedeji Bolarin et al.

Summary: This research focuses on the catalytic behavior of ferroelectric BaTiO3 nanomaterial in the separation of MgH2, improving sorption kinetics and reversibility. The study highlights the significance of titanium states and oxygen vacancies in BaTiO3 twin boundaries for Mg/MgH2 system improvement. Additionally, the anomalous ferroelectric character of barium around Ti-O post-milling of BaTiO3 enhances MgH2 desorption enthalpy slightly.
