Gold-Based Nanoplataform for the Treatment of Anaplastic Thyroid Carcinoma: A Step Forward

Mariana Amaral et al.

Summary: Anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC) is a highly lethal subtype of thyroid cancer that does not respond well to traditional treatments. This study developed specialized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for photothermal therapy (PTT) targeted specifically at ATC. The functionalized holo-transferrin AuNPs showed the best efficacy for PTT against ATC and demonstrated good safety and biodistribution when administered in vivo. These results suggest that AuNPs-mediated-PTT could be a promising treatment for ATC in the future.

Dynamic light scattering distributions by any means

Natalia Farkas et al.

Summary: Dynamic light scattering (DLS) is a crucial technique for nanoparticle size analysis, but the choice of weighting and mean of the size distribution is often arbitrary, leading to potential misinterpretation. Research shows that the default outputs of frequently used DLS inversion methods are problematic and require more accurate handling of the size distribution.
