Neuronal Delamination and Outer Radial Glia Generation in Neocortical Development

Ayano Kawaguchi

Summary: During neocortical development, the delamination of neurogenic cells is crucial for their migration, with the proper timing of detachment of the apical endfeet being critical for neurogenesis. Various molecular mechanisms, including the regulation of cell adhesion and cytoskeletal architecture, contribute to neurogenic cell delamination and potentially the generation of other types of neural progenitor cells.

A Homozygous AKNA Frameshift Variant Is Associated with Microcephaly in a Pakistani Family

Syeda Seema Waseem et al.

Summary: Primary microcephaly is a genetic disorder characterized by small brain size and intellectual disability, with AKNA being identified as a potential candidate gene. A study in a consanguineous family from Pakistan found a frameshift variant in the AKNA gene that cosegregates with microcephaly and related symptoms, suggesting its role in regulating brain development. This variant is predicted to affect protein structure and function, particularly in terms of AKNA's localization to the centrosome and normal brain development.

Comprehensive analysis of Transcription Factors identified novel prognostic biomarker in human bladder cancer

Yihao Liao et al.

Summary: This study identified significant differences in the expression of five TFs (CBX7, AKNA, HDAC4, EBF2, and NFATC1) between bladder cancer and normal bladder tissue, with down-regulation of these TFs being associated with poor prognosis. AKNA and NFATC1 expression levels could serve as independent biomarkers for predicting overall survival in BCa patients. The combination detection of the five TFs showed higher sensitivity and specificity, providing a potential prognostic model and therapeutic target for BCa treatment.
