Comprehensive review & impact analysis of integrating projected electric vehicle charging load to the existing low voltage distribution system

Syed Rahman et al.

Summary: The addition of EV charging loads affects power quality and grid stability in the existing distribution line infrastructure. High penetration levels of renewable energy in the utility grid also present challenges and opportunities for solving grid integration issues of EV loads. Analyzing the impact of adding EV charging load to the existing low voltage distribution system must consider factors such as grid impact with different EV chargers, mobile nature of EV load, power quality, voltage profile, and spread/peak demand of load curve.

Cascaded H-bridge Based STATCOM With Improved Ride Through Capability of Submodule Failures

Yousef Neyshabouri et al.

Summary: This article investigates the operation of cascaded H-bridge based static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) after failure in its submodules. The study proposes a method that injects zero-sequence voltage to generate maximum line-to-line voltage and controls negative-sequence current to manage active power flow in order to ensure capacitor voltage balance.
