Fast skeletal myosin-binding protein-C regulates fast skeletal muscle contraction

Taejeong Song et al.

Summary: The study found that knockout mice lacking the fMyBP-C gene showed significant changes in muscle structure and function, such as decreased grip strength and muscle force, less ordered myosin heads, increased interfilament lattice spacing, and reduced calcium sensitivity. This indicates that fMyBP-C plays a critical role in muscle contraction speed and force, sarcomere integrity, and calcium sensitivity.
