Hydrogen sulfide removal from biogas on ZIF-derived nitrogen-doped carbons

Wenying Quan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the removal of H2S from biogas using nitrogen-doped carbon materials derived from the carbonization of ZIF-8. The results showed a correlation between H2S sorption capacity and doped N species and porosity, making the sorbents promising candidates for H2S removal from biogas. The H2S sorption capacity was found to be independent of CO2 concentrations, highlighting the potential applications of these materials in biogas purification.

Unveiling the Nature of Room-Temperature O2 Activation and O2•- Enrichment on MgO-Loaded Porous Carbons with Efficient H2S Oxidation

Yankai Pan et al.

Summary: This study reveals that O-2 activation reaction can occur in porous carbons at room temperature, facilitated by edge site defects and heterogeneous atoms; DFT calculations predict the enrichment and trapping of O-2(center dot-) radicals on the surface of MgO, which is confirmed experimentally. The O-2 activation on MgO-loaded PCs shows promising catalytic performance in room-temperature H2S oxidation, offering a fresh route for aerobic oxidization processes.

Precise control of heat-treatment conditions to improve the catalytic performance of V2O5/TiO2 for H2S removal

Jae Hwan Yang et al.

Summary: The results suggested that the catalyst heat-treated at 400 degrees C under N-2 atmosphere (N-400) exhibited excellent catalytic performance for H2S removal, with high H2S conversion and sulfur yield. The study highlighted the importance of precisely controlled heat-treatment to enhance catalytic activity for H2S removal.

Engineering of crystal phase over porous MnO2 with 3D morphology for highly efficient elimination of H2S

Xiaohai Zheng et al.

Summary: In this study, alpha-, beta- and delta-MnO2 catalysts with hierarchically porous structure were prepared using a facile oxalate-derived hydrothermal method. The phase-dependent behavior for selective oxidation of H2S over MnO2 catalysts was studied, revealing that delta-MnO2 exhibited superior activity and stability with almost 100% H2S conversion and sulfur selectivity. The hierarchically porous structure of delta-MnO2 nanosphere suppressed the generation of by-products SO2 and sulfate, making Mn-based catalysts more suitable for industrial applications.

Heteroatom-Doped Monolithic Carbocatalysts with Improved Sulfur Selectivity and Impurity Tolerance for H2S Selective Oxidation

Chi Xu et al.

Summary: A novel phosphate-modified N-doped three-dimensional mesoporous carbon/carbon nanotube monolith carbocatalyst is developed for the selective oxidation of H2S to sulfur with high selectivity, conversion, and stability. The interaction between carbon matrix and -POx plays a key role in regulating the surface properties and improving selectivity without compromising conversion. Advanced characterization, kinetic analysis, and DFT simulations provide insights into the mechanism behind the enhanced performance of the P-modified N-C/CNT monolith.
