Fibroblast CEBPD/SDF4 axis in response to chemotherapy-induced angiogenesis through CXCR4

Jhih-Ying Chi et al.

Summary: Cancer-associated fibroblasts play a crucial role in cancer progression, and can be induced to differentiate into myofibroblasts by anticancer drugs through CEBPD activation. SDF4 interacts with CXCR4 to trigger VEGFD expression in endothelial cells, promoting angiogenesis and distant metastasis. Targeting SDF4 may be a potential therapeutic strategy for inhibiting angiogenesis in chemotherapy-treated cancer patients.

SERPINE2 is an oral cancer-promoting factor that induces angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis

Tomonori Sasahira et al.

Summary: The gene expression and secretion levels of SERPINE2 were found to be higher in OSCC than in normal oral mucosa. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed that SERPINE2 expression was correlated with depth of invasion, nodal metastasis, microvessel density, and lymphovessel density. Both univariate and multivariate analyses indicated that SERPINE2 expression level was an independent poor prognostic factor for OSCC. In vitro studies showed that SERPINE2 promotes angiogenesis and lymphangiogenesis.

NEK9 regulates primary cilia formation by acting as a selective autophagy adaptor for MYH9/myosin IIA

Yasuhiro Yamamoto et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that NEK9 interacts with MYH9 to regulate ciliogenesis, with NEK9's LIR playing a key role in the autophagic degradation of MYH9. This interaction may have adaptive implications for terrestrial life, given the conservation of NEK9's LIR only in land vertebrates.
