Graphene oxide-coated pyrolysed biochar from waste sawdust and its application for treatment of cadmium-containing solution: batch, fixed-bed column, regeneration, and mathematical modelling

Vijoyeta Chakraborty et al.

Summary: In this study, a nanocoated adsorbent was produced using sawdust to effectively remove cadmium from solution. The nanocomposite showed higher removal capacity compared to normal sawdust-based composites, making it a viable alternative for pollutant treatment. This method offers sustainability and low cost benefits.

Experimental and Numerical modeling on dye adsorption using pyrolyzed mesoporous biochar in Batch and fixed-bed column reactor: Isotherm, Thermodynamics, Mass transfer, Kinetic analysis

Lopamudra Das et al.

Summary: Adsorbents derived from agro-waste can be a feasible substitute for the synthesis of activated biochar for pollutant removal. The Freundlich isotherm model provided the best fit for the adsorption of Malachite Green dye, with a biosorption capacity of 90.1mg/g at 30 degrees C. The experimental data aligned well with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model, indicating the spontaneous and exothermic nature of the reactions involved.
