Utilization of Citrus aurantium peels for sustainable production of high surface area type I microporous nano activated carbons

Ahmed El Nemr et al.

Summary: In this study, microporous nano activated carbons (OPAC) were prepared from orange (Citrus aurantium) peel using a one-step chemical activation process by zinc chloride. The effects of carbonization temperature, impregnation ratio, and impregnation time on the properties of the OPAC were investigated. The results showed that the highest surface area of OPAC was achieved with a 2:1 impregnation ratio, a carbonization temperature of 700 degrees C, and a 30-minute holding time. The prepared activated carbons exhibited high BET surface area, total pore volume, and micropore volume, indicating the effectiveness of the zinc chloride chemical activation method for preparing activated carbon with nano pore size structure from orange peel.

Testing the carbonization condition for high surface area preparation of activated carbon following type IV green algaUlva lactuca

Amany G. M. Shoaib et al.

Summary: In this study, activated carbon with high specific surface area was successfully produced from Ulva lactuca using ZnCl2 as an activating agent. By adjusting the carbonization temperature, holding time, and concentration of ZnCl2 solution, the optimal conditions for preparation were determined, resulting in activated carbon with desired pore size distribution and morphology.

Insights into purification of contaminated water with activated charcoal derived from hamburger seed coat

L. O. Ajala et al.

Summary: Hamburger seed coat can be converted into activated charcoal for wastewater treatment, showing potential for environmental remediation. The adsorption capacity of the activated charcoal is significantly correlated with the iodine value, and the treated contaminated water meets most of the standards for potable water.

Tea waste based natural adsorbent for toxic pollutant removal from waste samples

Mohammad Mahbub Kabir et al.

Summary: The study showed that alkali treated tea waste (ATTW) could effectively remove chromium pollutants from water, with adsorption processes described by pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order, and intra-particles diffusion models. The Langmuir model had the best fitting and the maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 158.73 mg/g. Additionally, ATTW exhibited excellent regeneration capacity.

Green low cost nanomaterial produced from Moringa oleifera seed waste for enhanced removal of chlorpyrifos from wastewater: Mechanism and sorption studies

Hala M. Hamadeen et al.

Summary: The study developed a novel nanoscale Moringa olivera seeds waste (nMSW) as an effective bio-nanosrbent for enhanced removal of chlorpyrifos from contaminated wastewater. The nMSW exhibited superior adsorption capacity compared to conventional bulk MSW and most reported green sorbents, with remarkable removal efficiency achieved in a short contact time period. The thermodynamic parameters and bio-sorption data suggested the main driving forces in CPF removal mechanism by nMSW.

Evaluation of Cationic Methylene Blue Dye Removal by High Surface Area Mesoporous Activated Carbon Derived from Ulva lactuca

Ahmed El Nemr et al.

Summary: Mesoporous nano-activated carbon was prepared from green algae Ulva lactuca using zinc chloride impregnation as the activation process. The obtained activated carbon has high carbon content, specific surface area, pore volume, and average pore diameter. The adsorption properties of the activated carbon were tested using Methylene blue dye, showing effective adsorption capacity and high correlation with Langmuir and pseudo-second-order models. Multiple adsorption-desorption cycles showed minimal loss of dye-adsorption capacities.
