Selection of New Late-Season Mandarin Cultivars Based on Sensory Changes and Consumer Acceptance after Fruit Cold Storage

Paula Tarancon et al.

Summary: The study found that sensory changes during storage varied depending on the variety, helping to understand consumer preferences over time. Among the three new cultivars, Omet and Tri-703 showed the highest potential for success. Tri-703 can be stored for a month, while Omet should not exceed 15 days due to susceptibility to skin damage. In terms of commercial cultivars, consumers highly appreciated the internal quality of Orri, while Ortanique was considered the most attractive variety.

Considering the application of a mixed reality context and consumer segmentation when evaluating emotional response to tea break snacks

Julia Y. Q. Low et al.

Summary: This study explores how context influences consumer emotional responses to tea-break snacks, segmenting consumers into different emotional response categories through cluster analysis. The research found that mixed-reality and real cafes elicited similar emotional responses and that responses varied across different contexts.

Genetic diversity of the ease of peeling in mandarins

Xin Yu et al.

Summary: This study quantified and analyzed the peel-pulp adherence and peel resistance to penetration of different citrus varieties, revealing a great diversity in the ease of peeling among mandarins. Based on the hierarchical clustering analysis of these properties, mandarins were classified into two major clades, with various subclades representing easy-peeling and hard-peeling varieties. The correlation analysis suggested that peel thickness was associated with peel firmness, while peel mass per unit area was linked to peel firmness, and peel-pulp adherence and peel resistance to penetration were positively correlated.

Comparing temporal sensory product profile data obtained from expert and consumer panels and evaluating the value of a multiple sip TCATA approach

Maheeka N. R. P. Weerawarna et al.

Summary: Data from consumer and expert TCATA panels for the same products are not interchangeable, and choice of panel type should be determined in accordance with project objectives. Effects on sensory attributes varied significantly by panel type and product, indicating findings cannot be generalized across products and further research on other products is needed. Multiple-sip evaluations revealed significant changing dynamics in the perception of several attributes over and within sips, emphasizing the importance of understanding consumer product experience beyond single-sip studies.
