Responses of seven strawberry cultivars to alkalinity stress under soilless culture system

Mohammad Reza Malekzadeh Shamsabad et al.

Summary: The study found that increasing sodium bicarbonate concentration negatively affected strawberry growth and leaf conditions, with certain cultivars showing higher sensitivity to alkalinity stress, particularly Camarosa. Additionally, fruit properties of strawberry were influenced by bicarbonate, with Paros and Camarosa cultivars exhibiting the highest tolerance and sensitivity to alkalinity stress respectively. Furthermore, chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, especially PI and F-o, were identified as suitable indicators for evaluating bicarbonate stress in strawberry cultivars, and secondary alkalinity induced stress like salinity and drought may affect these parameters.

Influence of Compost from Post-Consumer Wood on Development, Nutrition State of Plants, Microbiological and Biochemical Parameters of Substrates in Zonal Pelargonium (Pelargonium zonale)

Anita Schroeter-Zakrzewska et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the type of compost used significantly influenced the growth and flowering of zonal pelargonium plants, while also impacting microbiological total counts and activity. Additionally, the chemical composition of the substrates was found to modify the nutritional state of the plants in terms of macro- and microelements.
