Exploring potential risk factors of antimicrobial use in beef cattle

A. Diana et al.

Summary: Livestock species, including beef cattle, play a significant role in the increase of antimicrobial resistance. This study investigated the impact of farm, breed, sex, and season of arrival on antimicrobial usage in Italian beef cattle. Results showed that males had higher antimicrobial usage compared to females, and there were significant differences in usage between seasons and breeds. This information can help in developing targeted strategies for responsible antimicrobial stewardship in beef production.
