Risk factors for symptomatic retears after arthroscopic repair of full-thickness rotator cuff tears

Luis Lobo-Escolar et al.

Summary: The study found that massive tears and moderate to severe fatty infiltration were significantly associated with symptomatic retear after arthroscopic repair. Additionally, both corticosteroid injections and depression were independent risk factors for symptomatic retear.

Intramuscular injection of Botox causes tendon atrophy by induction of senescence of tendon-derived stem cells

Peilin Chen et al.

Summary: Intramuscular injection of Botox interferes with tendon homeostasis by inducing tendon atrophy and senescence of tendon-derived stem cells (TDSCs). This may have long-term adverse consequences for the treatment of tendinopathy.

Identification and Distinction of Tenocytes and Tendon-Derived Stem Cells

Yuange Li et al.

Summary: The discovery of tendon-derived stem cells offers a new perspective for treating tendon injuries, but the lack of specific markers poses obstacles in in vitro studies. This review summarizes and compares the characteristics of tenocytes and TDSCs, and suggests a potential marker selection for identification in the future. Further exploration of biomarker mechanisms in vivo and the discovery of more specific markers are of profound significance.

Distinct Gene Expression Profile in Patients With Poor Postoperative Outcomes After Rotator Cuff Repair: A Case-Control Study

Jessica M. Eager et al.

Summary: The study evaluated gene expression differences in rotator cuff tissue collected during surgery to predict surgical outcomes. The findings suggest that a more proinflammatory, fibrotic environment before repair may play a role in poor healing outcome, potentially leading to diagnostic methods for preoperative prediction of poor surgical outcomes with further validation in a larger cohort.

Distinct Gene Expression Profile in Patients With Poor Postoperative Outcomes After Rotator Cuff Repair A Case-Control Study

Jessica M. Eager et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate gene expression differences in tissue collected during surgery to predict outcomes after rotator cuff repair. The results suggest that patients with poor healing outcomes exhibit greater expression of gene sets related to extracellular matrix production and cellular biosynthetic pathways, while patients with good healing outcomes show greater expression of genes associated with the proinflammatory macrophage phenotype. These findings may lead to diagnostic methods for preoperatively predicting patients at risk for poor surgical outcomes.
