Simultaneous removal of organics and heavy metals from industrial wastewater: A review

Timothy O. Ajiboye et al.

Summary: The co-existence of heavy metals and organics in industrial effluents poses potential health risks and ecological harm, necessitating the simultaneous removal of these pollutants. Technologies such as adsorption, ion exchange, photo-catalysis, and coagulation have been used for this purpose, with their success dependent on water matrices and treatment media. This review critically examines the advantages, limitations, and mathematical modeling of these technologies for concurrent removal of organics and heavy metals in contaminated systems.
