Neutrophil-like Cell-Membrane-Coated Nanozyme Therapy for Ischemic Brain Damage and Long-Term Neurological Functional Recovery

Lishuai Feng et al.

Summary: This study introduces a neutrophil-like cell-membrane-coated mesoporous Prussian blue nanozyme, which improves the delivery of the nanozyme to the damaged brain for noninvasive active-targeting therapy in ischemic stroke. The long-term therapeutic efficacy of this nanozyme in ischemic stroke is demonstrated, with a detailed mechanism involving uptake by microglia leading to beneficial effects like microglia polarization, reduced recruitment of neutrophils, decreased neuron apoptosis, and neural cell proliferation. This strategy offers an approach for nanozyme therapy in brain diseases.

Targeting the Immune System for Ischemic Stroke

Shenpeng R. Zhang et al.

Summary: Stroke is a leading cause of death with limited treatment options, leading to disabilities and complications for survivors. Immune cell-mediated inflammatory injury plays a crucial role in exacerbating stroke development, while balancing pro- and anti-inflammatory mechanisms is key to improving long-term outcomes.

Leukocyte-Mimetic Liposomes Penetrate Into Tumor Spheroids and Suppress Spheroid Growth by Encapsulated Doxorubicin

Tatsuya Fukuta et al.

Summary: The study showed that leukocyte-mimetic liposomes containing leukocyte membrane proteins can effectively penetrate into tumor spheroids, inhibit tumor growth, and potentially serve as a drug delivery system for cancer treatment. Transferring leukocyte membrane proteins onto liposomes enhances their binding capacity with tumor cells, demonstrating the ability for efficient penetration into tumors.
