Summary: This study demonstrated that Musa paradisiaca leaf and fruit peel extracts have significant antihyperlipidemic, cardiac, and antioxidant effects in diabetic rats induced by nicotinamide and streptozotocin. These effects were mediated through improvements in glycemic state, beta-cell function, tissue insulin sensitivity, and antioxidant defense mechanism.
