Physical aspects of gold nanoparticles as cancer killer therapy

Summary: The research aims to enhance the effective atomic number of cancer tissues by injecting gold nanoparticles, increasing the diagnostics and radiotherapy efficiency. The presence of gold nanoparticles in the cancer tissues significantly enhances the cross section of the photoelectric effect for X-ray absorption and the stopping power of incident energetic protons.
