Solid lipid nanoparticle-loaded mucoadhesive buccal films - Critical quality attributes and in vitro safety & efficacy

Martina M. Tzanova et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop and characterize solid lipid nanoparticle (SLN)-loaded mucoadhesive films for potential drug formulations. The SLNs showed good storage stability, and their incorporation into the film matrix increased thickness and flexibility while slightly decreasing mechanical strength. Additionally, solubilization in SLNs reduced permeation rate and extent of the model drug C6, which was compensated for when incorporated into the mucoadhesive film.

Influence of process and formulation parameters on the preparation of solid lipid nanoparticles by dual centrifugation

Denise Steiner et al.

Summary: A new manufacturing process, dual centrifugation, is introduced for preparing solid lipid nanoparticles, which can complete the emulsification process in a short time and achieve particle sizes below 200 nm with a narrow, monomodal size distribution.

Oral delivery of solid lipid nanoparticles: underlining the physicochemical characteristics and physiological condition affecting the lipolysis rate

Mohammad Mahmoudian et al.

Summary: Lipid-based nano-drug delivery systems (LBNDDSs), such as solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs), have shown great potential in oral drug delivery due to their tunable properties. However, the susceptibility of SLNs to lipolysis poses challenges in developing more efficient delivery systems. This paper highlights factors affecting the digestion rate/level of SLNs in the gastrointestinal tract, providing valuable insights for researchers aiming to develop controlled drug delivery systems for oral applications.
