DeepTarget: Gross tumor and clinical target volume segmentation in esophageal cancer radiotherapy

Dakai Jin et al.

Summary: Gross tumor volume (GTV) and clinical target volume (CTV) delineation are critical steps in cancer radiotherapy planning. Our customized methods provide a comprehensive solution for esophageal cancer radiotherapy, integrating RTCT and PET modalities for more accurate GTV segmentation, and formulating CTV segmentation as a deep contextual appearance-based problem to emulate oncologists' CTV delineation techniques. Extensive cross-validation on 148 esophageal cancer patients demonstrates significant improvements in performance over previous works.

A scalable physician-level deep learning algorithm detects universal trauma on pelvic radiographs

Chi-Tung Cheng et al.

Summary: Pelvic radiographs are crucial for detecting proximal femur and pelvis injuries in trauma patients, yet current algorithms are limited in accurately detecting all trauma-related radiographic findings. This study introduces PelviXNet, a deep learning algorithm trained with weakly supervised point annotation, which demonstrates high accuracy and sensitivity in a clinical population test set.
