Engineering two-dimensional metal oxides and chalcogenides for enhanced electro- and photocatalysis

Yichao Wang et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional metal oxides and chalcogenides are considered as promising electro- and photocatalysts, but their catalytic performances are relatively poor due to low electrical conductivity, few active sites, and fast charge recombination. Efforts have been made to improve their catalytic activities through rational structural design and chemical modification.

Pengfei Liu et al.

Summary: Lamellar-structured polyamic acid salt/graphene oxide hybrid aerogels were constructed through bidirectional freezing and lyophilization, resulting in high-quality vertically aligned graphene lamellae for superior through-plane thermal conduction capacity. The epoxy composite impregnated with 2.30 vol% of graphene exhibited an outstanding through-plane thermal conductivity of 20.0 W m(-1) K-1, with a record-high specific thermal conductivity enhancement of 4310%, and also showed a high fracture toughness similar to 1.71 times that of epoxy.
