Wearable temperature sensors based on lanthanum-doped aluminum-oxide dielectrics operating at low-voltage and high-frequency for healthcare monitoring systems

Summary: The study investigated the incorporation of lanthanum into sol-gel based aluminum-oxide dielectrics, suppressing frequency-dependent capacitance variation even at high frequencies. It demonstrated the application of sol-gel based LaAlO3 dielectrics in capacitive responses to different temperatures and the practicality of flexible temperature sensors with high mechanical stability. Moreover, the feasibility of a healthcare monitoring system utilizing wearable body-temperature sensor arrays consisting of sol-gel based LaAlO3 dielectrics was shown, enabling real-time temperature analysis and display on a smartphone.

These fibers showed ultra-high stretchability and excellent properties under extreme conditions. They can be used in all-in-one integrated wearable systems, demonstrating promising prospects for next generation electronic skins to detect human motions, monitor body temperature, provide thermal therapy, and exhibit inherent self-warming ability.
