Immunoglobulin-Negative DNAJB9-Associated Fibrillary Glomerulonephritis: A Report of 9 Cases

Samar M. Said et al.

Summary: This study presents a series of immunoglobulin-negative Fibrillary Glomerulonephritis (FGN) cases, characterized by proteinuria, hematuria, and elevated serum creatinine levels. Histologically, glomeruli showed mainly mild mesangial hypercellularity and/or sclerosis, while being positive for DNAJB9. Ultrastructurally, randomly oriented fibrils were observed in all cases, suggesting a unique pathogenesis that does not involve immunoglobulin deposition in the glomeruli.

Intense immunostaining of heat shock protein 70 within renal interstitium associates with long-term renal survival in an ANCA-associated vasculitis cohort

Ioannis Petrakis et al.

Summary: A study on ANCA-associated vasculitis patients revealed a close association between the expression levels of HSP60 and HSP70 in the kidneys, inflammation, fibrosis, and renal survival, especially with HSP70 expression being related to poor renal outcomes. Further research is needed to verify the causative association between HSP70 expression and renal outcomes in ANCA-associated vasculitis.

UniProt: the universal protein knowledgebase in 2021

Alex Bateman et al.

Summary: The UniProt Knowledgebase aims to provide users with a comprehensive, high-quality set of protein sequences annotated with functional information. Updates over the past two years have increased the number of sequences to approximately 190 million, with new methods to assess proteome completeness and quality. UniProtKB has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by expertly curating relevant entries and making them rapidly available through a dedicated portal.
