Transport Alteration of 4-Phenyl Butyric Acid Mediated by a Sodium- and Proton-Coupled Monocarboxylic Acid Transporter System in ALS Model Cell Lines (NSC-34) Under Inflammatory States

Asmita Gyawali et al.

Summary: The study found that the uptake of PBA in ALS model cell lines is influenced by pH, concentration, and sodium ions, as well as competitive inhibition by MA and MCT. SiRNA transfection studies confirmed the transport of PBA through MCT1. Oxidative stress inducers can affect SMCT1 mRNA expression levels, which in turn influence PBA uptake.

L-Citrulline Level and Transporter Activity Are Altered in Experimental Models of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Asmita Gyawali et al.

Summary: The study found that the transport function of L-citrulline is significantly altered in ALS disease models compared to control groups. Moreover, the experimental results suggest that LAT1 plays an important role in the uptake of [C-14]L-citrulline in ALS cell lines.

Pretreatment Effect of Inflammatory Stimuli and Characteristics of Tryptophan Transport on Brain Capillary Endothelial (TR-BBB) and Motor Neuron Like (NSC-34) Cell Lines

Asmita Gyawali et al.

Summary: This study investigated the transport mechanisms of tryptophan in brain capillary endothelial cell lines and motor neuron-like cell lines. The findings suggest that neuroprotective drugs have inhibitory effects on tryptophan uptake, while pre-treatment with inflammatory cytokines can affect tryptophan uptake.

Change in Cationic Amino Acid Transport System and Effect of Lysine Pretreatment on Inflammatory State in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Cell Model

Sana Latif et al.

Summary: This study investigated the alteration of CAT-1 activity in lysine transport and the protective effect of lysine against inflammatory states in ALS cell lines. The results showed that lysine restored transport activity in the MT cell lines and exhibited neuroprotective effects. Understanding lysine transport characteristics in ALS may lead to the development of new therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.
