Targeted Drug Delivery Using Tuftsin-bearing Liposomes: Implications in the Treatment of Infectious Diseases and Tumors

Masood Alam Khan

Summary: Tuftsin, a tetrapeptide, acts as an immunopotentiating molecule by binding and activating immune cells, and its specific targeting activity has been enhanced by incorporation into liposomes. Tuft-liposomes loaded with antimicrobial drugs have shown high efficacy against infectious diseases, while also increasing the activity of anticancer drugs and enhancing immune cells. With their specific targeting and immunopotentiating effects, Tuft-liposomes have potential as promising drug and vaccine delivery systems.

Inhibitors of DHHC family proteins

Tong Lan et al.

Summary: Protein S-acylation is a dynamically regulated post-translational protein lipidation process, with DHHC proteins being recognized as critical regulators of S-acylation-mediated cellular processes. The increasing demand for chemical inhibitors of DHHC proteins has led to focus on inhibitors such as 2-bromopalmitate and N-cyanomethyl-N-myracrylamide. Advances in structure elucidation, mechanistic interrogation, and novel inhibitor design around DHHC proteins are expected to spark innovative strategies for modulating these critical proteins in living systems.
