MicroRNA profiling as a novel diagnostic tool for identification of patients with inflammatory and/or virally induced cardiomyopathies

Ganna Aleshcheva et al.

Summary: This study identified and evaluated prognostic miRNAs in the serum of patients with inflammatory heart diseases. The expression of certain miRNAs allowed for differentiation between patients with virus and/or inflammation and healthy donors, as well as for sorting out patients with dilated cardiomyopathy from other study groups. This miRNA profile provides a non-invasive diagnostic perspective for identifying patients with intramyocardial inflammation and/or viral persistence.
