Summary: This study investigated in-hospital mortality in severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 patients stratified by serum ferritin levels. The results showed that higher levels of serum ferritin, along with hypertension and pneumonia, were associated with predicting in-hospital mortality. Patients with ferritin levels > 1000 had a higher mortality rate.

Summary: The study evaluated the impact of anemia on COVID-19 patients and found that anemia is associated with the severity of COVID-19, with anemic patients more likely to have comorbidities and severe illness. Anemia was related to elevated levels of CRP, PCT, and other laboratory indices, and was positively associated with the severity of COVID-19 in terms of dyspnea, CRP, and PCT.

Summary: The study found that AKI is common among hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the United States, with a 46% occurrence rate and 19% of patients requiring dialysis. Independently predicting severe AKI were chronic kidney disease, male gender, and higher serum potassium levels at admission. In-hospital mortality was significantly higher in patients with AKI compared to those without AKI, with only 30% of AKI patients recovering kidney function by the time of discharge.
