First In-Human Results of Computed Tomography Angiography for Coronary Stent Assessment With a Spectral Photon Counting Computed Tomography

Sara Boccalini et al.

Summary: This study compared the image quality of in vivo coronary stents between an energy integrating detectors dual-layer computed tomography (EID-DLCT) and a clinical prototype of spectral photon counting computed tomography (SPCCT). The results showed that SPCCT demonstrated improved objective and subjective image quality compared to EID-DLCT, even with a reduced radiation dose.

Comparison of image quality between spectral photon-counting CT and dual-layer CT for the evaluation of lung nodules: a phantom study

Salim A. Si-Mohamed et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the image quality of spectral photon-counting CT (SPCCT) compared to dual-layer CT (DLCT) with different reconstruction algorithms. Results showed that SPCCT had lower noise magnitude and higher detectability for nodules compared to DLCT. SPCCT provided higher image quality and better conspicuity for both ground-glass nodules and solid nodules at different iDose(4) levels.

Coronary calcium scoring potential of large field-of-view spectral photon-counting CT: a phantom study

Niels R. van der Werf et al.

Summary: CAC scores using routine clinical protocols are comparable between conventional CT and SPCCT. SPCCT showed higher detectability of CAC for both small and large phantoms, with detection increasing significantly at reduced slice thickness for both CT systems. Volume scores from SPCCT were found to be more comparable with the physical volume of the CAC compared to CT.

First Performance Evaluation of an Artificial Intelligence-Based Computer-Aided Detection System for Pulmonary Nodule Evaluation in Dual-Source Photon-Counting Detector CT at Different Low-Dose Levels

Lisa Jungblut et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the image quality and performance of an AI-based CAD system in photon-counting detector CT for pulmonary nodule evaluation. The results showed that photon-counting detector CT had superior subjective image quality compared to conventional energy-integrating detector CT, while the objective image noise was similar or superior. The AI-CAD system provided comparable results for nodule detection and volumetry between photon-counting detector CT and dose-matched EID-CT.

Evaluation of microvasculopathy using dual-energy computed tomography in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension

Hiroyuki Onishi et al.

Summary: The presence of microvasculopathy in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension has been suggested to impact pathophysiology. Evaluation of patients showed that those in the poorly perfused group had higher pulmonary vascular resistance and lower lung perfusion of blood volume score, indicating potential severe hemodynamics due to microvasculopathy.
