Comparison of N-linked glycosylation on hemagglutinins derived from chicken embryos and MDCK cells: a case of the production of a trivalent seasonal influenza vaccine

Jingqi Li et al.

Summary: This study compared the glycosylation patterns of three strains of influenza viruses for the production of a trivalent seasonal flu vaccine. MDCK-derived HAs were found to have more partially occupied glycosylation sites and higher molecular weight glycans compared to embryo-derived HAs, indicating potential differences in the function of influenza vaccines.

Display of the human mucinome with defined O-glycans by gene engineered cells

Rebecca Nason et al.

Summary: Mucins are heavily O-glycosylated proteins that are found on mucosal surfaces and in body fluids. A cell-based platform has been developed to display and produce human TR O-glycodomains with tunable structures and patterns of O-glycans, allowing for experimental studies on the versatile role of mucins in interactions with pathogenic microorganisms and the microbiome.
