Recent Advances in Metal Catalyzed C-H Functionalization with a Wide Range of Directing Groups

C-H bond functionalization is an important field with applications in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and dye chemistry. This review explores the use of catalytic metals and various remote/directing groups for C-H bond functionalization. The catalytic properties of these metals (Pd, Rh, Ru, Mn, Ni, Fe, Cu, or Co) in reactions such as cyanations, arylations, alkenylations, allylations, alkylations, and alkynylations are discussed. Additionally, the functionalization of beta-C(sp(3))-H, ortho-(sp(2))-H carbonyl compounds, gamma-C(sp(3))-H arylation, and gamma-C(sp(2))-H of amines, amino esters, and alkyl acetals is summarized.
C-H bond functionalization is an emerging field with various pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and dye chemistry applications. We have explored the use of C-H bond functionalization with catalytic metals and various remote/directing groups such as pyridine, pyrimidine, 8-aminoquinoline or n-quinoline, 2-isopropylpyridine, oxazoline,2-aminopyridine-1-oxide, N-(2-(methylthio)phenyl), 2-methoxyiminoacetyl, 2-amino-3-fluoro-N,N-dimethylbenzamide, 2-dimethylaminoethylamine, N-(2-aminophenyl)-acetamide, 5-methylisoxazole-3-carboxamide, oligopeptide, beta-carboline amide, N-tosylethylenediamine, acetohydrazide, beta-alanine, 3-amino-2-benzylpropanoic acid and 2-(methylsulfinyl)aniline with metacycles sides. Moreover, these metals employed (Pd, Rh, Ru, Mn, Ni, Fe, Cu or Co) in these reactions have relevant good catalytic properties and can catalyze a wide range of chemical reactions such as cyanations, arylations, alkenylations, allylations, alkylations and alkynylations with a wide range of removable auxiliary were reviewed. Importantly, functionalization of beta-C(sp(3))-H, ortho-(sp(2))-H carbonyl compounds, gamma-C(sp(3))-H arylation and gamma-C(sp(2))-H of amines, amino esters and alkyl acetal are summarized in this review.
