Olive leaf extract impairs mitochondria by pro-oxidant activity in MDA-MB-231 and OVCAR-3 cancer cells

Reyes Benot-Dominguez et al.

Summary: The study revealed the potential of Olive Leaf Extract in inhibiting the viability of breast and ovarian cancer cells through anti-proliferative and pro-apoptotic activities. The extract induced cell cycle arrest and increased apoptotic cell death by affecting mitochondrial functionality and causing oxidative stress. Mitochondrial ROS generation was identified as the primary mechanism of the extract's antitumor activity.
