Net-Shape NiTi Shape Memory Alloy by Spark Plasma Sintering Method

Sneha Samal et al.

Summary: The spark plasma sintering approach was used to analyze the shape memory effect of a NiTi alloy, showing good shape memory effects at 900 degrees C but with 2.5% porosity due to a load of 48 MPa. The specimens displayed significant austenite phases with a bending strain recovery of >2.5%.

Fabrication of Thermal Plasma Sprayed NiTi Coatings Possessing Functional Properties

Sneha Samal et al.

Summary: Thick NiTi shape memory alloy coatings were successfully produced on graphite and AISI 304 substrates using radio frequency inductively-coupled plasma spray technology. The coatings exhibited martensitic transformation and shape memory effect, indicating their potential for practical applications. Further optimization is necessary to enhance the microstructural and chemical homogeneity of the coatings.

Effect of Ni Addition on the Corrosion Resistance of NiTi Alloy Coatings on AISI 316L Substrate Prepared by Laser Cladding

Yuqiang Feng et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of Ni addition on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of NiTi coatings prepared on a 316L stainless steel substrate. The addition of Ni led to the formation of fine dendrites and a dense microstructure, promoting the formation of a passive film mainly composed of titanium dioxide. The results demonstrated that the Ni addition improved the corrosion performance of the coatings, with higher pitting potential and lower corrosion current density compared to coatings without Ni addition.
