Enhancement of tribo-corrosion performance of carbon steel through boronizing and BN-based coatings

Summary: Iron boride coatings produced through thermal diffusion on carbon steel exhibited enhanced wear resistance due to higher hardness and chemical inertness of the protective layer. Under tribo-corrosion conditions, the multi-layered structure above boronized steel reduced crack propagation and decreased the friction coefficient.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of the treated material size on the kinetics of growth of boride layers, showing that the sample diameter has a significant impact on the growth rate of boride layers. The results indicate that the layer thickness increases with the sample diameter under the same treatment conditions.
