Availability of preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio to predict postoperative delirium after head and neck free-flap reconstruction: A retrospective study

Hirotaka Kinoshita et al.

Summary: The preoperative neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) may serve as an effective predictor of postoperative delirium (POD) in patients undergoing head and neck free-flap reconstruction, with higher NLR values being independently associated with increased risk of POD. Patients with POD had significantly longer stays in the intensive care unit, suggesting that preoperative NLR could help identify patients at risk of delirium.
