The critical role of CCK in the regulation of food intake and diet-induced obesity

Carolina R. Cawthon et al.

Summary: CCK plays a crucial role in regulating feeding behavior and optimizing digestion and nutrient absorption. Diet-induced obesity results in reduced sensitivity to CCK, potentially leading to dysfunction of the CCK system.

Ndufs1 Deficiency Aggravates the Mitochondrial Membrane Potential Dysfunction in Pressure Overload-Induced Myocardial Hypertrophy

Rongjun Zou et al.

Summary: Mitochondrial dysfunction, specifically Ndufs1 deficiency, has been shown to play a key role in pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy. Mechanistic studies indicate that downregulation of Ndufs1 may lead to mitochondrial dysfunction in cardiomyocytes, contributing to the development and progression of CH.

An examination of skeletal muscle and hepatic tissue transcriptomes from beef cattle divergent for residual feed intake

Clare McKenna et al.

Summary: This study revealed 5 genes differentially expressed in skeletal muscle between high and low RFI heifers, all related to oxidative phosphorylation and mitochondrial homeostasis, and 11 genes differentially expressed in liver tissue between high and low RFI bulls, with genes related to amino and nucleotide metabolism as well as endoplasmic reticulum protein processing. Molecular control of RFI in young cattle appears to be modified according to gender, with potential differences in physiological maturity between heifers and bulls of the same age. Despite gender-related differences, several genes have been identified as potential molecular biomarkers for RFI cattle.

Daytime Restricted Feeding Affects Day-Night Variations in Mouse Cerebellar Proteome

Fabrics Bertile et al.

Summary: The study identified day-night variations in the cerebellar proteome of mice fed during daytime or nighttime, showing changes in proteins related to heat-shock proteins, enzymes, and neuronal activity in daytime food-restricted mice. Additionally, a significant feeding x time-of-day interaction was found for changes in the intensity of 20 spots.
