Effect of Precipitation Hardening on Corrosion Resistance of Cu-4.5 wt.%Ti

Denise Hanoz et al.

Summary: Cu-Ti alloys can potentially replace Cu-Be alloys as they are more environmentally friendly. Age hardening treatments can modify the microstructure of Cu-Ti alloys, affecting their mechanical and corrosion properties. The study found that cast samples exhibited the highest corrosion resistance, while mechanical properties improved after a combination of homogenization and aging.

The evolution of microstructure and properties of a Cu-Ti-Cr-Mg-Si alloy with high strength during the multi-stage thermomechanical treatment

Xu Wang et al.

Summary: A Cu-Ti-Cr-Mg-Si alloy with super-high strength and high electrical conductivity was designed, and the multi-stage thermomechanical treatment significantly improved its mechanical and electrical properties. The high strength of the alloy was attributed to precipitation strengthening, sub-structure strengthening, solid solution strengthening, and work hardening, while the electrical conductivity increased during aging due to the decomposition of supersaturated solid solution. Compared with direct aging treatment, the multi-stage thermomechanical treatment with stepped temperature-reduction further enhanced the alloy's mechanical and electrical properties.

Effects of microelements on the microstructure evolution and properties of ultrahigh strength Cu-Ti alloys

Lan Huang et al.

Summary: High ductility Cu-Ti alloys were fabricated and investigated systematically in this work, with strength and plasticity being improved by adding high Ti and Cr content. The crystal relationship between different phases was studied, and precipitation strengthening was identified as the primary strengthening mechanism. The CuTiCrMg alloy and CuTiCrMg-Fe alloy exhibited different mechanical properties after aging, with the former showing higher hardness and yield strength while the latter had higher elongation.
