Massive Access in Cell-Free Massive MIMO-Based Internet of Things: Cloud Computing and Edge Computing Paradigms

Malong Ke et al.

Summary: This article investigates the massive access in cell-free massive MIMO-based IoT and proposes two processing paradigms for massive access: cloud computing and edge computing. By leveraging the structured sparsity of the channel matrix, a structured sparsity-based SS-GAMP algorithm is developed for joint AUD and CE. Simulation results show the superior performance of the proposed approach and indicate that edge computing can achieve similar massive access performance as cloud computing while alleviating the burden on CPU and providing faster access response.

Deep Learning for Channel Estimation: Interpretation, Performance, and Comparison

Qiang Hu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a theoretical analysis of DL based channel estimation for SIMO systems is presented, showing that DL methods can achieve universal approximation by utilizing piecewise linearity. The DL channel estimation is not restricted to specific signal models and asymptotically approaches the MMSE estimation without requiring prior knowledge of channel statistics, outperforming or at least comparable with traditional channel estimation depending on the types of channels. Simulation results confirm the accuracy of the proposed interpretation and demonstrate the effectiveness of DL based channel estimation under both linear and nonlinear signal models.

Channel Estimation Performance Analysis of Massive MIMO IoT Systems With Ricean Fading

Pei Liu et al.

Summary: This article analyzes the channel estimation performance of massive MIMO IoT systems under Ricean fading. It is found that pilot contamination occurs as the number of antennas increases, but this phenomenon disappears with a high Ricean K-factor.

Terahertz Ultra-Massive MIMO-Based Aeronautical Communications in Space-Air-Ground Integrated Networks

Anwen Liao et al.

Summary: This paper investigates terahertz Ultra-Massive (UM)-MIMO-based aeronautical communications and proposes an effective channel estimation and tracking scheme to solve the performance degradation problem caused by the unique triple delay-beam-Doppler squint effects of aeronautical terahertz UM-MIMO channels. By utilizing prior-aided iterative algorithms for angle and Doppler shift estimation, and developing a data-aided decision-directed based channel tracking algorithm, the proposed solution effectively mitigates delay-beam squint and Doppler squint, ensuring accurate path delays and channel gains estimation for improved data transmission.
