Minimizing the Age-of-Critical-Information: An Imitation Learning-Based Scheduling Approach Under Partial Observations

Xiaojie Wang et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the minimization of Age-of-Critical-Information (AoCI) in mobile edge networks. A system model is established to quantify the freshness of information by changes in its critical levels. An information-aware heuristic algorithm and an imitation learning-based scheduling approach are proposed to address the problem, and the superiority of the designed algorithm is demonstrated from both theoretical and experimental perspectives.

Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning Based Resource Management in MEC- and UAV-Assisted Vehicular Networks

Haixia Peng et al.

Summary: This paper investigates multi-dimensional resource management for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) assisted vehicular networks, proposing a MADDPG-based method for resource allocation at MEC servers. Simulation results show that the MADDPG method can converge within 200 training episodes and achieve higher delay/QoS satisfaction ratios than SADDPG and random schemes.

AoI-Minimal Trajectory Planning and Data Collection in UAV-Assisted Wireless Powered IoT Networks

Huimin Hu et al.

Summary: This article investigates a UAV-assisted wireless powered Internet-of-Things system, formulating an optimization problem to minimize the average Age of Information (AoI) of data collected from all ground sensor nodes. By decomposing the problem into two subproblems and using dynamic programming and ant colony heuristic algorithms, optimal solutions are found for reducing the average AoI of the system. The results demonstrate that the flying altitude of the UAV and the size of collected data at each ground sensor node have a linear impact on the average AoI.

Spatiotemporal Dependable Task Execution Services in MEC-Enabled Wireless Systems

Mustafa Emara et al.

Summary: Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) allows computation and energy-constrained devices to offload tasks for execution on powerful servers. It is crucial to consider both communication contention for task offloading and parallel computing for dependable execution. Research shows that there is an optimal number of virtual machines at the MEC server to maximize task execution capacity.

Resource Allocation for Energy-Efficient MEC in NOMA-Enabled Massive IoT Networks

Binghong Liu et al.

Summary: In this article, the integration of mobile edge computing (MEC) into the Internet of Things (IoT) to provide high quality of service is explored through the application of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) technique for energy-efficient MEC in IoT networks. A complicated resource allocation problem is formulated and decomposed into separate radio and computation resource allocation problems, which are further optimized using matching, sequential convex programming, and Knapsack methods. The proposed scheme significantly improves the energy efficiency of NOMA-enabled MEC in IoT networks compared to existing baselines, as validated by numerical results.
