Characterization and Prediction of Mobile-App Traffic Using Markov Modeling

Giuseppe Aceto et al.

Summary: This study analyzes mobile-app traffic data using modeling methods based on Markov models, proposes a heuristic for reconstructing messages from encrypted traffic, and evaluates its performance in different tasks. The results show that the proposed methods are effective in characterizing and predicting network traffic, comparable to machine learning approaches.

Adversarial Network Traffic: Towards Evaluating the Robustness of Deep-Learning-Based Network Traffic Classification

Amir Mahdi Sadeghzadeh et al.

Summary: This article evaluates the robustness of DL-based network traffic classifiers against Adversarial Network Traffic. The results suggest that injecting a little Universal Adversarial Perturbation into network traffic greatly decreases the performance of classifiers.
